OSAM Board Functions

Functions The OSAM Board has been organized with the main objective of strengthening the Agricultural industry in the state and to ensure better income generation of the farmers constituting Cooperative Societies, using their common wealth through group efforts. Providing forward and backward linkage for all sorts of income generating activities of farmers is the goal of the Board.

The Board looks forward towards Rural Development including Rural Credit and Rural Indebtedness along with Cooperative Marketing through Co-operative Societies.

The Department of Cooperation and its field formations have been organized with the main objective of strengthening the Cooperative Movement in our Country and to ensure better income generation of the members constituting Cooperative Societies, using their common wealth through group efforts. Providing forward and backward linkage for all sorts of income generating activities of farmers, artisans, traders etc. is the goal of the Cooperatives.

The main function of the Board is to :
  • Plan and guide for successful implementation of various agricultural programs / activities under taken by the board.
  • Agricultural promotion and providing platform to showcase the agro products eradicating the involvement of middle men in various projects
  • Providing agricultural credit
  • To prevent harassment of farmers for availing loan Kisan Credit Card (KCC) are being is sued to farmers for the purpose.
  • Through the Agricultural Marketing Directorate, the OdishaState of Agricultural Marketing Board, Market Regulation is being implemented for ensuring reasonable price to the producers by preventing exploitation.
  • Facilities in shape of storage of Agricultural and other produce are being provided in the Agricultural Sectors.
  • Distribution of essential commodities like fertilizers, food grain, seed, etc are being provided to the farmers through
  • OSAM Board deals with the market regulation of the agricultural produce of the state of Odisha. It has 65 Regulated Market Committees covering 56 revenue sub-divisions. The main objective of these RMCs is to ensure payment of fair price to the agriculturist.
  • Budget – OSAM board approve budget of all the 65 RMCs
  • Plan and Estimate – OSAM Board approves plan and estimate of development works prepared by RMCs beyond Rs 5,000.00
  • Staff Approval – RMCs hiring superior personnel is approved by OSAM Board
  • Audit – OSAM Board conduct audits of the RMCs at the end of every Marketing Year which spans from 1st of September to 31st of August.
